Components analysis of simulating rubber vulcanization fume in
laboratory by pressing HS-GC/MS

Abstract : A method of pressing head space-gas chromatography /mass spectrometry (HS-GC/MS) is
developed and used to analyze the components of simulating rubber vulcanization fume in laboratory. The
key of this method is a design of one mini mold which can be placed into Head Space bottle. The bottom
of the mold is sealed with air permeable gasket and the upside is sealed with screw core. After the sample is
placed into the mold and pressed through rotating the screw core, the mold is placed into the Head Space
bottle, then the sample can be vulcanized in Head Space under accurate temperature and time. The
vulcanization fume can diffuse into the bottle through the micropore of gasket. At the end of vulcanization,
the HS-GC/MS will transfer some gas into the GC/MS to test. This method is simple ,cheap, accurate and
universality.
