                       Study on melting process and properties of polyvinyl alcohol

                    Abstract: In this paper, the melting process and properties of polyvinyl alcohol are studied. Polyvinyl
                alcohol is a kind of biodegradable polymer material, but the molecular chain of polyvinyl alcohol contains
                a lot of hydroxyl, which is easy to form a large number of hydrogen bonds within or between molecules. The
                melting temperature is higher than the decomposition temperature, so the melting process is difficult. In this
                experiment, glycerin and erucic acid amide are used as plasticizer to reduce the melting point of PVA, so
                that it can be melted under suitable processing technology. Polyvinyl alcohol is modified with light calcium
                carbonate as filler. The experimental results show that the tensile strength is improved obviously when the
                plasticizer is 20 phr and the light calcium carbonate is 30 phr.
