                    Abstract: Blending composite modification and vulcanization of rubber are important ways to improve
                rubber properties and expand rubber application fields. In this paper, flame retardant EPDM composites were
                prepared by melt blending, and the effect of Magnesium hydroxide (M H ) content in flame retardant EPDM
                composites on peroxide vulcanization of EPDM rubber (EPDM) was studied. The results showed that the addition
                of MH reduced the scorching time t10 of EPDM; At 160 ℃ , the vulcanization rate gradually decreases with the
                increase of M H ; At 170 ℃ and 180 ℃ , with the increase of MH, the vulcanization rate of EPDM first decreases
                and then increases. The mechanical properties test results of EPDM composites at different vulcanization
                temperatures show that the tensile strength of flame-retardant EPDM composites after vulcanization does not
                decrease with the increase of vulcanization temperature. MH has a promoting effect on the formation and
                stability of cross-linked structure during the vulcanization process of EPDM in the composites.
