retardant

Abstract: In this paper, a new model of halogen-free intumescent flame retardant was established.
The gas-phase flame retardant was the main flame retardant in the initial stage of combustion, and the
condensed phase flame retardant was the main flame retardant in the later stage of combustion. The
mutual interference of different flame retardant mechanisms was avoided. By releasing a large amount of
incombustible gas in the early stage and forming a dense expanded carbon layer in the later stage, the
problem of "candle wick" to prevent droplet and glass fiber reinforced materials was solved. The application
experiment in polypropylene showed that the flame retardant property was good, with 24% addition, flame
retardant could reach UL94 V-0 1.6 mm, the combustion process had no dripping, the carbon layer was
dense, and the peak value of heat release rate was 30% lower than that of traditional IFR; In the glass fiber
reinforced system, flame retardant could reach UL94-V0 1.6 mm with 25% addition, 30% GFFRPP mechanical
properties are 10 ~ 15% higher than that of traditional IFR. At the same time, the application experiment in the
elastomer TPE showed that, flame retardant could reach UL94-V0 with 28% addition. The oxygen index was
32%, and it was stable and passed the VW-1 test. Compared with the traditional APP flame retardant system,
the product had good compatibility, smooth surface and no white spots.
